192.168.101.1 Router Login Guide

192.168.101.1

Not working? Check the label on the back or bottom of your router.

192.168.101.1 is a less common router address that shows up mainly on ISP-supplied routers in Latin America, with most lookups coming from Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador and Venezuela. To log in, connect to the router's WiFi or a LAN port, type http://192.168.101.1 in your browser and enter the username and password from the router label or from your internet provider. Because no single brand ships with this address by default, the most important step is confirming it really is your gateway.

This guide shows how to check, how to log in, and how to fix the usual problems.

  4. Type the username and password printed on the router label (usuario and contraseña), or the ones your provider gave you.
  5. If you are asked to change the password, choose a new one and store it safely.
  6. Make your changes, save them, and log out when you are done.

Why a router would use 192.168.101.1

Most routers leave the factory on 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. Internet providers and installers sometimes move their routers to a less crowded range such as 192.168.101.x. The usual reasons are practical:

  • the fiber ONT or cable modem in front already uses 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1, and two devices cannot share one range;
  • a custom range makes it easier for support staff to recognise their own equipment;
  • it reduces clashes when customers add their own router behind the provider's box.

So the address tells you more about how your connection was installed than about the brand of the router.

Where 192.168.101.1 is used

Search interest is concentrated in Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador and Venezuela, which points to routers configured by local providers rather than one global manufacturer. We have not been able to confirm a specific ISP or model that ships on this address, so we do not name one. If your router came from a provider, the label, your installation sheet or the provider's support line are the authoritative sources. Spanish-speaking readers in Mexico will find provider-by-provider guides on our Mexico hub.

Check your gateway (puerta de enlace)

Your device already knows the router's address. Look for these labels, shown in Spanish where your system uses it:

  • Windows: open Símbolo del sistema, run ipconfig and read Puerta de enlace predeterminada.
  • Android: Ajustes > Wi-Fi > tap your network > Puerta de enlace (may be under Avanzado).
  • iPhone: Ajustes > Wi-Fi > (i) > Router.
  • Mac: System Settings (Configuración del Sistema) > Red > Wi-Fi > Detalles > TCP/IP > Router.

Did you see 192.168.1.101 instead? That is a different address, usually given to a phone or computer, not the router.

Troubleshooting

  1. Page does not open: confirm you are on the router's WiFi and that mobile data is off.
  2. Gateway shows another address: your network may have two routers. The one at 192.168.101.1 might be behind the modem, or in front of the router you are connected to. Plug a cable directly into the device you want to manage.
  3. Login rejected: the label password may have been changed by the installer. Ask your provider before resetting, since some ISP routers lose their connection settings after a reset.
  4. Page partly loads: try a private window or another browser; old admin pages may not like ad blockers.
  5. Everything fails: restart the router by unplugging it for 30 seconds and try again.

Change your WiFi name and contraseña

Once logged in, look for a menu called Wireless, WLAN, Inalámbrico or Red Wi-Fi. Change the network name (SSID), choose WPA2-PSK or WPA3 security and type a password of at least 12 characters mixing letters and numbers. Save, then reconnect each device. If your router has separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz pages, repeat for both. To let visitors connect without dictating the password, print a code from our WiFi QR Code Generator.

Keep the router secure

  • Change any admin password that is printed on the label.
  • Never give the admin password to people who only need WiFi.
  • Turn off WPS and remote management unless your provider requires them.
  • Ask your provider about firmware updates; ISP routers are often updated remotely.
  • Check the connected devices list every few weeks.
