Router IP addresses

Every home router has a private IP address that opens its settings page. Pick the address printed on your router's label to see how to log in, the usual default username and password for that address, and what to do when the page will not load.

How to find which IP your router uses

You do not have to guess. Any of these shows the right address:

  • Router label: the sticker on the back or bottom of the router usually lists the login address, username and WiFi password.
  • Windows: open Command Prompt, type ipconfig and look for Default Gateway.
  • Mac: System Settings → Network → your connection → Details → TCP/IP → Router.
  • iPhone or iPad: Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the (i) next to your network → Router.
  • Android: Settings → WiFi → tap the connected network → look for Gateway or Router (the wording depends on the phone).
