What is my IP address?
The address below is the public IP your connection uses to reach websites. It is not the address that opens your router's settings — that is a private address such as 192.168.1.1.
Your public IP address
216.73.217.103- Type
- IPv4
- Your browser
- Mozilla/5.0 AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko; compatible; ClaudeBot/1.0; [email protected])
Your router login IP is different
The address above is how websites see you. To open your router settings you need its private address, usually one of these:

Public IP vs router IP
Your router has two addresses. The public IP faces the internet and is given by your provider; every device in your home shares it. The private IP, also called the default gateway, faces your home network and is the one you type to log in to the router.
| Public IP | Router (private) IP | |
|---|---|---|
| Who sets it | Your internet provider | The router maker or provider |
| Typical look | Any internet address | 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x or 172.16–31.x.x |
| Used for | Reaching websites and apps | Opening the router settings page |
| Changes? | Often, unless you have a static IP | Rarely, only if someone changes it |
How to find your router IP
- Router label: the sticker on the back or bottom of the router usually lists the login address, username and WiFi password.
- Windows: open Command Prompt, type
ipconfigand look for Default Gateway. - Mac: System Settings → Network → your connection → Details → TCP/IP → Router.
- iPhone or iPad: Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the (i) next to your network → Router.
- Android: Settings → WiFi → tap the connected network → look for Gateway or Router (the wording depends on the phone).
Why your public IP might look unexpected
If you use a VPN, a proxy or a privacy feature in your browser, the address shown belongs to that service. Mobile networks and some fiber providers put many customers behind one shared address (called CGNAT), so the IP above may be shared with other people.
Frequently asked questions
Can someone find my home from my IP address?
An IP address usually reveals only your internet provider and an approximate area, such as a city. Your street address is not public.
Is my IP the same on WiFi and mobile data?
No. On WiFi you use your home connection's public IP; on mobile data you get an address from your mobile operator.
Does this page store my IP?
This page is built fresh for each visit and is never stored in our page cache. Like most websites, our web host may keep standard access logs.
